“Halloween Mask-erade” Art Challenge

Our first Primary School House Games challenge is here! For this Halloween, our Primary School students will be designing a spooky facemask for the ISS PTA “Halloween Mask-erade” Art Challenge!
Each PYP student will be supplied a blank face mask template that can be decorated with a Halloween themed design. The designs should be in the “spirit” of Halloween (making no reference to the COVID19 pandemic) and will be showcased on Friday 30th October at the ISS PTA “Halloween Mask-erade”.
Please ensure the student wears his/her regular face mask to school as usual.
The student may also choose to draw inspiration for his/her mask design from their own or another international cultures Halloween-like celebration, such as the Hungry Ghost Festival (China), Dia De Los Muertos (Mexico), Pangangaluluwa (Philippines), Pitru Paksha (India) or Samhain (Ireland and Scotland).
Prizes for best design (per class) are kindly donated by the ISS PTA, plus House Points are up for grabs!:
- First Place: ISS Tote Bag + 10 points
- Runner-Up: ISS Mug + 7 points
- Second runner-up: ISS Notebook + 5 points
*House Points will be tallied across the event and the winning House will be announced before the end of the school day. Judging criteria will be:
- Creativity and originality of the design in depicting the Halloween theme
- Quality of artistic composition and overall design
- Overall impression of the design
- Integration of international Halloween-like festival/cultural influences
Halloween x Free Dress Day x Food Bank Donation
Friday 30th October will be a Free Dress Day, we encourage students and staff to come to school in Halloween-themed costumes/outfits matching their “Halloween Mask-erade” mask designs. Free Dress Day will continue to include our initiative to collect donations for the Food Bank, please remember to bring an appropriate food donation (with reasonable shelf life) to school on the morning of Friday 30th October.

Photos and videos of our PYP learners and their “Halloween Mask-erade” masks will be shared with the ISS Community with the Hashtags #ISSPride, #HalloweenMaskerade and #SGArtChallenge.
Parents and staff can join the celebrations by designing their own “Halloween Mask-erade” facemask and tagging @isssingapore!
