When I first joined ISS, I was very afraid of many things – a curriculum that was totally unfamiliar to me, and the many new people that I would have to meet at school. Nonetheless, I came to realise that my fears were unfounded. ISS, as a small school with an open community, nurturing teachers who create secure environments for their students, and strong pastoral care support, made me feel comfortable and I settled in very quickly.
I discovered my passion for IT when I was studying at ISS, which is why I really believe that ISS truly fulfils its promise of helping students ‘Realise our Potential’. When I first started getting interested in IT, I didn’t know much about Macbooks or the OSX software. ISS gave me the opportunity to gain experience, skills and knowledge through an internship with an expert in IT. I was able to further explore the system and was able to grasp all the aspects of the firmware and hardware. Mr. Taylor, my design teacher at the time, influenced my research into finding out more about what I didn’t know, and how I could develop my skills further.
