Since walking out of the ISS school gates, Paul Arts has been on a whirlwind adventure, globe-trotting for both work and pleasure. He credits his time at ISS for sparking his curiosity to explore the world. “Singapore and ISS really opened my eyes to the world. My wife Nina and I lived in Kenya for a while, where our son Manu has his roots.”
After running his own IT company Paul eventually joined Dell, as Marketing Director for the European, African, and the Middle Eastern markets. He has recently joined NVIDIA, an innovative company driving global change by making AI accessible and shaping the future of technology. He attributes his success to the time he spent at ISS.
Paul’s journey to Singapore began when his father was tasked with setting up a branch of a Dutch copier company in Southeast Asia. “I started in 7th grade and stayed until 10th grade when I returned to the Netherlands. Some of my most cherished memories are from the activity weeks with trips to places like Australia, New Zealand, and Taman Negara in Malaysia. Good old times, the kind of memories that last a lifetime!”
Paul also fondly recalls his teachers at ISS, especially Mr. Scoones, his Geography teacher. “Mr. Scoones was an exceptional educator—a fun, positive guy with a great sense of humour! We always had fun in his class and we learned so much. “And who could forget Mr Yutaka and Mr Louis. They played a huge role in shaping me during my teenage years.” The school’s success is not by chance; it’s attributed to its unwavering commitment to personalised support, its dedicated team of educators, and a culture of care.
To the current students of ISS, “You guys are in such a fantastic school, surrounded by people from all over the world. The things you’re learning, the friends you’re making—it’s all going to stay with you. Make the most of it, enjoy the ride. A future of endless possibilities awaits. I wish you all the best in your studies and future endeavours!”
