Seina joined ISS in Grade 2 as an English Language Learner, with emerging English proficiency. She had a curious mind and quiet determination. Welcomed into a warm and respectful community, the close-knit environment of the Primary Village gave her the avenue to adapt quickly. Daily Kampong Time, a unique ISS tradition where students and teachers gather to share ideas and experiences, helped Seina build connections, develop confidence, and cultivate a love for learning. With dedicated teachers guiding her progress in a supportive multilingual environment, Seina received tailored support to match her learning pace.
By Grade 4, she had not only become fluent in English but had also taken on leadership roles, joining the Student Action Leadership Team and flourishing in school events like the Celebrations of Learning and excursions designed as part of the curriculum, developing into a confident young learner. So remarkable was her progress that she advanced directly to Grade 6 from Grade 4, an achievement that speaks well of the personalised approach at ISS and the benefits of learning in a space filled with lush greenery and animals that have made ISS their home.
Most recently, she and her ISS schoolmates and teachers participated in the annual Week Without Walls experience at Telunas Beach in Indonesia where she braved the language barrier once more, interacting with village students and participating in local games. From tie-dyeing T-shirts to shrimping under the moonlight, immersed in the Indonesian island culture, ISS students were given the precious opportunity for personal growth, teamwork, and cross-cultural understanding.
Now in High School, Seina continues developing her multicultural identity and exemplifies the ISS spirit. She actively participates in group projects, collaborates seamlessly with peers, and is growing into a confident, curious, and compassionate leader.
